Signs your toilet should be replaced
Plenty of toilet problems can be fixed with a few parts. Some can’t. If you’re seeing any of these, a new toilet is usually the cheaper answer over the next few years.
A toilet that rocks on the floor needs attention either way. That movement breaks the wax seal under it, and the leak goes into the subfloor where you can’t see it.
- Cracks in the tank or bowl, even hairline ones
- Clogs that keep coming back with normal use
- Water on the floor around the base
- An older model that uses a lot of water per flush
New toilets, done properly
Replacements
We pull the old toilet, check the flange and the floor, set the new one on a fresh wax ring, and connect a new supply line.
New installs
Adding a bathroom or moving a toilet? We rough in the drain and the supply, then set the toilet once the floor is done.
Flange repairs
A broken or low flange is the usual reason a toilet rocks or leaks at the base. We fix it before the new toilet goes on.
Comfort height toilets
Taller bowls are easier on knees and backs. We’ll help you pick one that fits the space and the rough-in.
“They got the repair done right in record time the first time, but also was friendly, knowledgeable and went above and beyond.”
Toilet installation FAQ
Can you install a toilet I already bought?
Yes. Most toilets fit a standard 12 inch rough-in, but measure from the wall to the floor bolts before you buy. If yours is 10 or 14 inches, you need a toilet made for that size.
Is a new toilet worth it to save water?
If yours was made before the mid 1990s, it probably uses 3.5 gallons or more per flush. A new one uses 1.6 or less. For a family, that shows up on the water bill.
Why does my toilet rock?
Usually the floor bolts are loose or the flange under the toilet is broken. Cranking down on the bolts can crack the porcelain, so it’s worth having us look first.
Do you take the old toilet?
Yes, we haul it away when we’re done.
