Common shower problems we fix
Most shower problems come down to the valve behind the handle. It mixes hot and cold, and the cartridge or washers inside wear out after years of use.
If water shows up on a ceiling below or on the wall behind the shower, call soon. That’s usually the valve body, the shower arm, or the drain seal leaking inside the wall.
- Dripping showerhead or tub spout
- Water too hot, too cold, or changing mid-shower
- Weak pressure from one shower only
- Handle that's stiff, loose, or won't shut off
Repairs, upgrades, and new showers
Valve repairs
New cartridges, stems, and washers for most brands. If the valve is too old to get parts for, we replace it.
Leak repairs
Leaks at the shower arm, the valve, or the drain, found and fixed with as little wall opening as we can manage.
Pressure-balancing valves
Tired of getting scalded when someone flushes? A pressure-balancing valve keeps the temperature steady.
New showers
Rough-in plumbing for remodels and new builds, set at the right heights before the tile goes up.
“They were very prompt, and educated us on all the options without any upsell, did a superb job on the installation, all at a very fair price.”
Shower repair FAQ
Why is only my shower low on pressure?
If the sinks are fine, the problem is in the shower: a clogged showerhead, a worn cartridge, or a stop inside the valve. Soak the showerhead in vinegar first. If that doesn’t help, it’s the valve.
Why does my shower get hot when someone flushes?
Older valves don’t balance pressure. When the toilet pulls cold water, the shower gets more hot. A pressure-balancing or thermostatic valve fixes it.
Can you fix a leak without tearing out tile?
Often, yes. Many valves can be repaired from the front through the trim plate. If we need to get behind the wall, we’ll look for access from a closet or the other side first.
Do you install the tile too?
No, we handle the plumbing. We rough in and test the valve, drain, and supply before your tile installer starts, and set the trim when they’re done.
